Safety is Priority One

ITB Marine Group is committed to maintaining its competitive advantage as the industry leader in safety and safety management systems.  Our commitment to safety is built into everything we do.  It is our overriding priority, and everyone in the company knows our core value: “Everyone Returns Home Safely”.

Strong Safety Record

ITB Marine Group is proud of a strong safety record. This is made possible by:

  • Continuous change and improvement
  • Cultural shift through strong leadership
  • Performance tracking and reporting
  • Zero blame, highly accountable approach

We follow the ISM Code, a safety management program established by the International Maritime Organization (IMO).  The ISM Code forms the foundation on which all of our safety management systems are based. We were certified in 2001, and re-certified in 2010. The code is not required by law for ITB Marine Group operations, however, we follow the code because it sets a high standard for seamanship and management practices that put ITB in line with the best practices of the sea-going industry.  The ISM code requires that a series of management practices be in place that enable:

  • A safe working environment
  • The prevention of pollution
  • Maintenance of a seaworthy vessel
  • Safe sea-going practices
  • Control of operation critical information
